Over 100 artists participate in the third annual Independent Artists’ Week

The third annual Independent Artists’ Week began Sept. 4 with performances by artists at the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater and will go until Sept. 11. The weeklong event plans to showcase well over 100 artists using over a dozen different mediums.

A contemporary lantern festival and parade took place in Japantown on Aug. 29 grabbing the attention of visitors and residents alike.

Over 250 guests arrived from Japan to commemorate the 150th anniversary arrival of the Kanrin Maru to San Francisco Bay.
